Non-reactive Polyurethane can be left indwelling for 3-4 weeks. Used for pressure monitoring, blood sampling and administration of drugs or fluids. Normally closed valve helps prevent loss of catheter due to accidental disconnect. Antimicrobial catheters are coated on both internal and external surfaces with silver Sulfadiazine for the immune suppressed patient. Silver Sulfadiazine coating provides a precautionary protective enhancement.
